Committee Descriptions

Planning & Development Committee:

All proposals for subdivision and/or development for this community are referred to this committee for comment. We monitor each application for conformity with our Area Structure Plan. This plan was developed through a very thorough consultation process involving land owners and their consultant, developers with an interest in the area, personnel from various City departments, School Boards, the then Alderman Bronconnier, and others including a number of our members of our Community Association. We also give consideration to the protection or enhancement of environmentally significant areas, protecting natural areas and providing extensions to the pathway system, encouraging slope adaptive development on hillsides, providing open space and park areas, etc. While we can only act in an advisory/comment capacity, we are able, with sound reasoning, to influence decisions on matters of concern to the Community. The committee meets usually on the 2 nd Thursday of each month, and we welcome inquiries or comments at any time.

Membership Committee:

We rely on your memberships to keep our Association active in the community.  Our Membership Committee is responsible to renew your memberships and make becoming a member as easy as possible.   An SBHCA membership runs from Sept 1 through August 31 and is accepted in our neighbouring communities as well.  Through the year, we run two key membership drives.  The first is in October to process all of our renewals, and the second is in February to manage the new members participating in our spring sports and recreation programs.   If you’ve got ideas on how we can make our Association stronger in membership or would like to help out for a few hours, please feel free to send us an email at membership@springbankhill.org

Communications Committee:

The purpose of this committee is to communicate pertinent and relevant information from the Board of Directors to the community. The development of a tri-annual newsletter is a combined effort on the part of all of the Board of Directors who have something to contribute. The Communications Committee collects the information and organizes it on the newsletter for mail-out distribution to all community residents. The purpose of the newsletter is to summarize the key information that is important at the time, however, more extensive and detailed information is displayed on our website that is designed and managed by PointBlank Imaging. This website is updated throughout the year, and all updates are referred through the Communications Committee first. If you have experience or an interest in communications and/or advertising, and would like to contribute your thoughts and ideas to this committee, we welcome your involvement.

Community Events Committee:

The objective of this committee is to plan and implement special events, which enhance the sense of community and friendship for the residents of Springbank Hill. We are looking for committee members to meet as needed (once per month would generally be the maximum time commitment) to make this objective a reality!

Fundraising & Community Facilities:

The Fundraising and Community Facilities committee  is responsible for planning and fundraising in support of possible community operated facilities.  Currently, the Association is actively considering what type of additional programs and services residents want in their community.  The consultation plan includes a formal Needs and Preferences sur vey and a possible town hall meeting.

Sports & Recreation Committee:

As our community association is still in it's infancy, so are our sports and activity programs. We anticipate that as our community grows, so will our programs. Currently we are running a spring-time soccer and t-ball program for 4-6 year olds. This season we have 60 kids registered in our program. We are also actively engaged with the city in trying to establish a pleasure skating rink in our community for everyone to enjoy during the winter months. Any suggestions for future programs are certainly encouraged.
